Method

EP · 2026 · 4 tracks · 18:27

A short follow-up EP — four scored pieces for small ensemble that push the same cellular approach off the piano and into other hands.

  1. 01 Method I — Strings 4:41

The First Figure cell handed to a string trio, where sustain does what a piano's decay cannot.

  2. 02 Method II — Reeds 4:02

The same material for two clarinets. Breath becomes the limit that shapes the phrasing.

  3. 03 Method III — Tuned Percussion 5:13

Vibraphone and marimba. The cell as pure rhythm, the pitch almost incidental.

  4. 04 Method IV — Tutti 4:31

Everyone at once. The argument that the method was never about any single instrument.

Album notes

Where First Figure stayed at the keyboard, Method asks whether the same cellular logic survives translation. Each of the four pieces hands the founding note-cell to a different family of instruments and lets that family’s physical constraints — sustain, breath, decay — rewrite how the material behaves.

It is the most explicitly systems-minded thing in the catalogue: one idea, four controlled experiments, scored so the experiment can be repeated.
